Her first position started at the Health Department on July 7, 1986. On January 4, 1993, Ruth began working for the Purchasing Department. It was at this point that Ruth took on the task of putting together the Corridors. On March 10, 1997, Ruth transferred for the final time to the Budget and Finance Department. Some county employees may not know "Ruth ", but they do know the "Corridors ". Ruth's devotion to the publication of this newsletter each and every month was truly amazing. She had to gather articles, make them ready for publication, gather photos, add headings and graphics, edit, proofread, paste together, add fillers when necessary, create draft for corridors meeting, make final changes, take final product to printers, and finally distribute to departments and retirees. She did all of this despite late and incomplete articles and with the same enthusiasm month after month — nurturing it from a few articles and photos to the finished product we all saw and appreciated. The rest of her position included helping the Budget & Finance Department with such things as filing, certificates of residence, answering phones, and other important miscellaneous items that the rest of the staff couldn't always get to. This invaluable work helped the Budget & Finance Department to run smoothly even during the busy, crazy times. I began working with Ruth in March, 1997 when she joined our staff. When I think of Ruth, the first thing that comes to mind is the song that states "To know her is to love her." Ruth is a warm and caring person who goes out of her way to make everyone feel special. She brings a special feeling to the office every day she is there. Our only sorrow was that she only worked part time. Her bubbly, infectious laughter and ready smile will be missed by her co- workers, fellow county employees and the public who entered our office on a regular basis. Bye Ruth. May you always find happiness in whatever you do or whatever dreams you follow. I hope the following pages will give you some idea of how we feel about you as a co- worker and a person.
