WWWWWM "What did you do this weekend?" by Cheryl Nelson,Public Works Department Tompkins County Highway Division had an entry in both the Groton Old Home Days parade, on August 18th and Trumansburg Fair parade, on August 25th. The truck entered into these parades was the newest addition to the Highway's fleet -a 2001 Sterling 10-wheel dump truck. The truck was put into service in June and will be used for hauling gravel, stone, blacktop and other materials during the construction season. It will then be harnessed with a snow plow and wing for snow removal operations on the west side of Tompkins County. Barry Rollins, Motor Equipment Operator, and Cheryl Nelson, Public Works Administrator, rode in the truck in the Groton parade. Richard Chase, Highway Crew Supervisor, and Michael Rogers, Motor Equipment Operator, rode in the Trumansburg parade. It was great to see so many people at these parades and to hear the compliments about this newest addition to the Highway Division's equipment. Be watching for other Highway Division entries in local parades next year! .°' "`s .• a .4 44..is a r, r.. ° .,p. . ' . The plaque displays the names of the 1St place teams for the past 7 years. Another fancy of the 1"place team is the honor of visiting the prize table first. Sorry, Denny, you can't have 1"place every year, but you gave it a good shot to stay in the hunt.
